Pemampem Yaw Kabrese V
Pemampem Yaw Kabrese V, the Omanhene of Yeji Traditional area and the immediate past president of Bono East
Region House of Chiefs has disclosed that, gone are the days when people can remove the sandal of a Chief in
public and declare him destooled.
He stated that now the whole world, including Ghana is being governed by law. He said that this is guaranteed by
the Constitution which is our principal textbook. The experienced Chief was addressing a mammoth gathering at a
durbar in Ofuman in the Bono East Region to round off the Nkyifie Yam festival for 2024.
According to the learned chief the process starts from arbitration up to the Supreme Court unless the chief himself
gives up. He said, “Let us give peace a chance for unity and development in our communities and the country as a
whole. Chieftaincy disputes are sinking the country.”
On his part, the Paramount Chief of the Mo Traditional Area Nana Kwaku Dankwa II also cautioned the people of
Ofuman against litigations and power drunkenness which was contributing to chieftaincy issues in the country. He
said, “If there was no peace, this mammoth Nkyifie Yam festival could not have come on as we have witnessed
today.”
The Mo Chief admonished all and sundry to live in peace and unity and rally behind Nana Kwaku Gyan Brorkour II
to ensure fast development in the area. He added, "God helps those who help themselves."
The Ofuman Paramount Chief Nana Kwaku Gyan Brorkour 11 thanked the two paramount chiefs from Mo and Yeji
for gracing the occasion for their advice and all chiefs and all sundry especially the media.
Not forgetting to thank his own divisional chiefs, the Wangarara Chief of Wenchi for their unflinching support. He
used the opportunity to caution the people to position themselves in a manner to reflect on Ofumaman as lovers of
peace and unity.
He admonished against the use of abusive language and called on his people to desist from any act of violence while
campaigning for support and said that they should not take the law into their own hands.
Nana Kwaku Gyan Brorkour II appealed to leaders of the political parties to explain their good policies to the
electorate but not to incite them to violence which could plunge the nation into chaos. He reminded them that Ghana
is for all of us but not for the politicians.
