Editorial (The Daily Searchlight, Monday, 31st January, 2022)
There is a great debate making the rounds as to whether people should be compelled to be vaccinated. Many people believe that all should be compelled to be vaccinated, yet a corresponding number of others believe that they have every right to refuse to be vaccinated. There is even a fifth column that suggest that current drugs do not offer any effective protection. And there is even another group who suggest that the covid-19 pandemic has all been a massive hoax by Big Pharma.
Whatever your belief, the Daily Searchlight believes that there is overriding evidence to suggest Covid is real. Being a disease that is respiratory in nature, it also does pose the real potential of developing a mutation that can wipe off humankind from the face of this planet.
Again, it is a fact that when it first began, human beings would have jumped at the advances and the wealth of knowledge we have about the disease today. Indeed, there are many who prayed to see the day of a vaccine. It is amazing, that we actually have people who live today who continue to contest the lawfulness of wearing masks and being vaccinated. What would be your right, when you are dead?
The Daily Searchlight may subscribe to the talk of rights; we have always been heavy handed in our support for all manner of human rights. However, this time, we believe that all rights come to an end, when death comes on a person, and with covid, we are talking about a very lethal grim reaper, a master of killing. The world has not seen such an efficient killer since World War II. Talking of your rights to the person who is trying to save you, when death is at your door, is suicidal behavior. We have a public duty to save you from your infamy. Because, unless we do, you continue to be a threat to the survival of the rest of us.
There comes a time when reason must supersede any talk of rights.
We must tell those who are refusing the vaccination, for any reason-stop being selfish. Protect yourself, and protect humanity.
