Indian Super League (ISL) side, Chennaiyin FC have let go of goalkeeper Vishal Kaith and forward Nerijus Valskis following the expiration of their contracts, with the Machans looking at other options ahead of the upcoming ISL season.
Kaith joined Chennaiyin from Pune City in 2019 and since then impressed for the club, playing a key role in his inaugural season and featured prominently in Chennaiyin FC’s runners-up finish. He made 41 saves in twenty appearances that season. Overall, in his 49 appearances he made astonishing 113 saves for the Marina Machans.
Valskis meanwhile became an instant fan favourite in his first stint with the Machans, scoring 15 goals in 20 league games in 2019 to win the Golden Boot award and lead the club to a runners-up finish that season.
The striker however failed to have the same impact in his second spell with Chennaiyin FC last season, scoring just two goals in what was a poor season for both the player and the club.
“The time has come…. Thank you @chennaiyinfc for all the memories. You will always remain in my memories. I will miss Marina Arena. Good luck to you all,” Valskis wrote on social networking site, Twitter.
The club for their part have added two new players in their squad as they signed defender Aakash Sangwan and midfielder Sajal Bag on two-year deals ahead of the upcoming season.
