NJ/NY Gotham FC have added defender Taylor Smith to their roster.
The player joins after she announced the mutual agreement to part ways with the North Carolina Courage on June 22. She’s no stranger to New York, forming part of the Western New York Flash’s NWSL Championship-winning season before the team moved to North Carolina and rebranded.
She also spent time with the Washington Spirit and OL Reign before being traded back to the Courage in December 2020. Overall, she recorded 63 regular-season appearances for the Flash and Courage, managing two goals and four assists in that span.

“We wish Taylor all the best and thank her for all she has done for the Courage on and off the field,” chief soccer officer Curt Johnson announced upon her departure.
Now, she is set for a new chapter with Gotham FC under head coach Scott Parkinson.
“Taylor is going to add another veteran presence to our team,” Gotham FC General Manager Yael Averbuch West said in a statement. “She’s accomplished and versatile and has championship experience, which will go a long way as we continue to shape our culture.”
Gotham currently sits in eighth on the table, just four points away from a playoff spot with two games more to play. They return to action on Saturday, July 2, following the international break.
