Sevilla president Jose Castro has confirmed that Anthony Martial will return to Manchester United this summer after his loan deal expired.

The 26-year-old moved to Andalusia in January in a deal which included an option to buy, but he failed to make a real impact during his stay in Spain, chipping in with just one goal and one assist in 12 appearances.

Now, Castro has confirmed that Sevilla have declined to take up the option to sign Martial permanently.

“Anthony Martial will return to Manchester United,” he said. “We spent important money on him but it didn’t work.

“Also, he had a lot of injuries. We’re not going to buy him on a permanent deal.”
