Sevilla have confirmed they have terminated the contract of Spain international Isco, who only joined the club in the summer.

Isco had left Real Madrid as a free agent during the transfer window and joined Sevilla on a contract until 2024 following a public approach from then manager Julen Lopetegui.

However, he was fired in early October and replaced by Jorge Sampaoli, who has not found a regular place for the Spanish attacker in his starting XI.

A statement from the La Liga club reads: “Sevilla FC and the footballer Isco Alarcón have agreed to terminate the contract that had united both parties since the player joined last summer after finishing his spell at Real Madrid.

“The club wants to wish Isco all the luck in the world in his new professional challenges.”

Isco endured a difficult relationship with influential director of football Monchi and was training alone prior to the World Cup break. An ankle injury was the reason given.

Isco has been linked with a move to the Premier League in the past. He is heavily decorated thanks to his spell at Real Madrid but has managed only three club goals in the past three seasons. The 30-year-old has also not played for Spain since 2019.
