Rajasthan United goalkeeper, Bhaskar Roy has opened up on being adjudged as the best goalkeeper of the recently concluded I-League season and his dream of playing in the top-tier Indian Super League (ISL) in the future.
Roy had brilliant season for Rajasthan United between the sticks last season, registering eight clean sheets and making 44 saves in 17 appearances in the I-League with his performances a key reason why the club finished a solid sixth in the league table.
The 29-year-old is looking to make a mark in the ISL, admitting that a few clubs have already contacted him regarding his services.
“I was quietly confident, but never thought that I would become the best goalkeeper in the I-League. My confidence increased as I kept playing more matches. I wanted to prove myself because I didn’t get much game time in the past few seasons,” he said in an interview with Sportskeeda.
“I aspire to play in the ISL. I’m confident that I can cement my spot in the playing XI. I’ve seen the performances of goalkeepers in the ISL and I believe that I’m just as good as them, if not better,” the shot stopper added.
It will be interesting to see how Roy’s future pans out considering that the likes of East Bengal and Mohammedan SC are understood to be interested in signing him.
