It has been reported that the Central East Police Regional Command have arrested a 26 year old man, Benjamin Kojo Bannor, who is a football coach, for sodomizing his youthful team members.

The police say that they are in the middle of investigations to ascertain the actual number of children who fell prey to a football Coach alleged to have sodomized them.

The 26-year-old Coach, Benjamin Kojo Bannor is currently in police custody after being nabbed for defiling the teen players at Zion, a suburb of Kasoa, in the Awutu Senya East Municipality.

He was said to have promised them successful football careers.

Confirming the incident to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), ACP Oduro Amaning, the Deputy Regional Commander, indicated that only one child, aged 13 had made a formal report so far.

He could, however, not confirm the state of the boy’s health condition.

“We have to convince them with positive assurance to come to the police station”, ACP Amaning said.

He said Bannor would be arraigned before the Ofaakor Circuit Court on Monday, January 24, 2022.

It would seem that there are many predators in Ghana’s society who get away with these kinds of antics by preying on the unwary.

It is therefore necessary that parents make efforts to investigate the backgrounds of people they leave their children with.

It is a well-known fact that children are easily beguiled by promises of quick fortune. That makes them easily prey to people who would abuse them.

It is therefore necessary that Ghana develop a public database of known sex workers, which can be accessed by members of the public who come into contact with people who can be harmful to others.

We hope that the police would be able to conduct successful investigations into this matter, and that those with information would be forthcoming with it.
