It has been a massive season on and off the pitch for the WSL, with another year of tremendous action and overall growth. The campaign will draw to a close this weekend with the final round of fixtures, but not before several hugely important things have been decided.

Chelsea and Arsenal are fighting it out to the death for the title, while the battle for the third and final Champions League place between Manchester United and Manchester City is not fully over.

Elsewhere, clubs are jostling for position and the chance to at least finish on a high.

Read on for 90min’s score predictions for all six games and how you can watch it live…

Ninth place Aston Villa came into 2021/22 seeking to build on their debut WSL season and they have already done that by taking six additional points with the final game still to come. But only matching Everton’s result against Brighton will ensure they also improve on last year’s position.

For Birmingham, the journey is finally over. Despite some late-season resurgence, the Blues were relegated from the WSL for the first time as a result of their midweek defeat to Manchester City and they will spend next season in the Women’s Championship.

Prediction: Aston Villa 2-2 Birmingham

Everton will start afresh next season, but this is not how they wanted 2021/22 to play out after an ambitious summer of recruitment and dreams of challenging for a Champions League place. They are guaranteed to finish 10th unless they can better Aston Villa’s result.

For Brighton, the season has been hit and miss. They have enjoyed some outstanding results and performances but also struggled badly in certain games. Overall, a win here would likely to secure a second successive top half finish, which is actually a sound achievement.

Prediction: Brighton 1-0 Everton

Plain and simple, Chelsea will hold onto top spot and lift the trophy for the third year in a row – and a fourth out of six – if they beat Manchester United at home. Anything else would open the door for Arsenal to pull off a final day leapfrog.

United’s own ambitions of a top three place lie in tatters as a result of points dropped against West Ham and Aston Villa in recent weeks, combined with Manchester City’s flawless run. They can still do it, but only if they beat Chelsea, which has never happened before, and City slip up.

Prediction: Chelsea 2-1 Man Utd

Manchester City have won all of their last eight WSL games to put themselves in pole position for third place, going into the top three for the first time since the opening weekend of the season on Wednesday night when they thrashed Birmingham 6-0.

All City have to do is better Manchester United’s result to hold onto that place and get back into the Champions League. Had they been facing Reading earlier, they might have had more trouble, but since an outstanding run of form ended in February, the Royals haven’t won in nine WSL games.

Prediction: Reading 0-4 Man City

When is kick off? Sunday 8 May, 12:00 (BST)
Where is the match being played? Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

Tottenham have already had their best ever season, taking more points and scoring more goals than they have done previously as a top flight club, as well as guaranteeing their highest league finish (5th) with multiple games to spare.

They now have a chance to go out on a high after recently tailing off during a very difficult final run of fixtures, hosting Leicester at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The Foxes are already safe, so it is only really pride that is riding on this game for either club.

Prediction: Tottenham 3-1 Leicester

When is kick off? Sunday 8 May, 12:00 (BST)

All Arsenal can do is beat West Ham and hope that they get a favour from Manchester United at Chelsea. The Gunners have led the WSL for most of the season, but a wobble in January and February took its toll and gave Chelsea the chance to surge through.

Arsenal should win this game relatively comfortably. They have taken maximum points in each of their last seven games, scoring 29 goals in the process and conceding only twice. Expect that form to continue against a West Ham side that has had a tough second half of the season.

Prediction: West Ham 0-2 Arsenal

The Huracan Foundations’ ‘Keep girls in school in 2022’ aims to improve opportunities for girls and reduce gender inequalities.

The global pandemic exacerbated gender inequality issues in a number of countries, and that is why in 2022 four new project leads are focused on using football to make a real difference to girls’ lives in remote communities across Uganda and India. To find out more click here.
