Fulham are close to finalising a deal to sign Lazio goalkeeper Thomas Strakosha, 90min understands.
The Cottagers have been on the hunt for a new goalkeeper as they prepare to return to the Premier League for the 2022/23 season.
Paulo Gazzaniga made just 15 appearances last year following his move from Tottenham, with Marek Rodak slotting back into the starting role for the latter portion of the campaign.
90min previously reported that they had explored re-signing Alphonse Areola from Paris Saint-Germain after his successful loan spell in west London during the 2020/21 campaign.
However, the France international is likely to join West Ham on a permanent deal and Marco Silva’s men swiftly turned their attentions to Strakosha.
Listen now to 90min’s brand new podcast, Talking Transfers, with Scott Saunders, Graeme Bailey & Toby Cudworth. This week Harry Symeou steps in for Scott and the trio discuss the futures of Bukayo Saka, Rafael Leao, Romelu Lukaku, Kalvin Phillips, Youri Tielemans, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Raphinha, Gabriel Jesus and more.
The Albanian stopper’s contract at the Stadio Olimpico expires at the end of June and he is available to sign on a free transfer.
Strakosha made 208 appearances for Lazio in all competitions and he’s been capped 19 times by his country, and will bring a wealth of experience to the goalkeeping position at Craven Cottage.
