A seven-member joint delegation from FIFA and the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) started their visit of India in order to gauge the state of football in the country following the termination of the previous All India Football Federation (AIFF) committee by the Supreme Court.

As per a report in the Times of India, India has nothing to worry regarding an international ban if they stick to their timelines and elect a new AIFF executive committee by September at the latest.

While no official statement has been issued so far, the report goes on to state that there has been a constructive meeting between the Committee of Administrators (CoA) and the joint delegation – though they are set to hold another round of talks on Thursday.

“The message to the Committee of Administrators (CoA) was simple. They have to ensure that the new constitution does not go against the FIFA statutes and hold AIFF elections before the end of September. They have to stick to timelines. The delegation has also made it clear that once the constitution is approved by the Supreme Court, it has to be passed by the AIFF general body,” the report stated.
