The Ministry of Education has taken delivery of over 3.7 million English teaching and learning textbooks from the United State Agency for International Development (USAID) to enhance effective teaching and learning in the country.

The books, which are part of the Transition to English (T2E) program of the USAID Partnership for Education Learning initiative were printed by Buck Press, a leading Printing firm in the country.

Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, Minister for Education who received the books lauded the United State Government who through USAID has been very instrumental in the provision of support for the development of the country.

He also commended the management of Buck Press for the production of such quality work which can match any international standard.

Again he lauded them for ensuring the printing of the books and also completing the work on schedule to ensure that the books reach their destination by 15th September to help promote effective teaching and learning.

The Education Minister also commended USAID for the books which would go a long way to improve the reading performance of pupils.

Dr Adutwum reiterated the government’s commitment to the provision of the right resources needed to support effective teaching and learning in all schools irrespective of location in the country.

He stated that the good bilateral relations between the United State and the people of Ghana which date back several decades are been strengthened day by day and promised the government’s preparedness to deepen the ties between the two countries.

The United State of America Ambassador to Ghana, Ms Virginia Palmer, praised Dr Adutwum for the effort he was making for the transformation of the nation’s economy through education.

She also praised the government for working very hard to turn around the fortunes of the nation’s economy despite the challenges confronting the nation and the rest of the world by Covid-19 and the effect of the Russia-Ukraine war.

The Ambassador pledged the American government’s readiness to continue to support the development of the country through the provision of quality education and other support to other facets of the economy.

The USAID has the past eight years during the USAID Partnership for Education Learning Activity supported the Education Ministry in diverse ways.

The distribution of these books which would go to over 11,000 schools is one of the ways through which the United State government was supporting the nation’s education development.
