Edu Bedia has reiterated his love for Indian Super League (ISL) club, FC after signing a one-year contract extension with the club, claiming that he only wanted to “play for the Gaurs” in the ISL.
Bedia who joined FC Goa from Spanish side, Real Zaragoza in 2017 is set to play in his sixth season of the ISL in the upcoming campaign and has been a key player for the Gaurs since then, pulling the strings in midfield for a number of managers so far.
The 33-year-old admitted that he fell in love with the club, its style of play and the place when he first arrived, and feels at home in Goa.

“I told Ravi (Puskur, director of football) many times (last season). I want to play only in FC Goa. If not, I’ll try to get another offer from a club in Spain. After this, I am going to play only in FC Goa. I play for my team, my teammates, for FC Goa fans. I don’t play for other fans, other teams, other players. Sometimes I don’t like (what I am doing), but you have to kill time, create a little fight to finish the game and ensure you have the maximum points,” he said in an interview with Times of India.
“If, for example, in minute 85, we are up one-nil and have suffered a lot in this moment, my job is to ensure that we keep the score. I know not everyone likes, but these things are important in professional football. You have to do this for your club,” the Spaniard added.
Bedia has so far made 101 appearances for the Gaurs so far, scoring 13 goals and playing a key role in them winning the 2019/20 ISL League Winners Shied, the 2019 Super Cup and 2021 Durand Cup.
