Bible Society of Ghana launches Ga-English Diglot version

The Bible Society of Ghana has launched the maiden edition of the Ga-English diglot version of the Bible at Peniel Presbyterian Church at Teshie Salem in Accra under the theme “We heard them speak in our language (Acts 2:5-12).

The Ga-English Diglot comprises English and the Ga version in one holy book which enables readers to make easy references to the scriptures as well as a deeper understanding of the Word of God in two languages.

Unveiling of the Bible

Speaking at the launch, the General Secretary of the BSG, Rev. Dr. Enoch Aryee-Atta said the Ga-English diglot will urge Gas and other readers of the Ga-language to have direct access to God’s word and apply it in their respective lives.

According to him, the two in one bible will create a broad understanding of the scriptures and the unique word of God hence the BSG has worked fervently to make the Holy Bible available and affordable to Christians.

He, therefore, commended the translators and the publishers for their tireless effort in making the Ga-English diglot a reality and urged the congregants to buy copies for their daily devotion and practise also the virtues and values of the Christian faith.

He however urged the Christian fraternity to buy copies for families, friends, and their churches to propagate God’s teachings and works and expressed also his appreciation for individuals and institutions for supporting Society in the completion of the Bible projects.

In a sermon, the Chairman of the BSG Council Rt. Rev. Dr. D.S. Torto said the Ga-English diglot has created an opportunity for the Ga community to relate the teaching of the Bible to the Ga language and explained that the Word of God comes to Christians as spiritual food which satisfies souls as well purifies them and shape the lives of Christians.

“The Word of God impacts the lives of Christians and increases faith through sanctification”, he added and however called on all to purchase a copy of the Bible and study God’s word.

The President of the BSG, Apostle Prof. Opoku Onyinah challenged Christians to have a copy of the Bible in every jurisdiction of their lives and detailed that the Bible is a spiritual book for Christians that guides believers on the journey to the Saviour Jesus Christ.
