Barcelona have completed their first signing of the 2022 summer transfer window with the addition of Nuria Rabano following the conclusion of her Real Sociedad contract.
The left-back has put pen to paper on a two-year deal with the club, keeping her in Catalonia until 2024.
Rabano was a star performer for Real Sociedad during the 2021/22 campaign, making 29 appearances and chipping in with seven assists as the club qualified for the Champions League for the first time in their history.
“I started in elite football very recently and the truth is that I have made a very big leap,” Rabano told Barcelona’s official club website. “It’s a very important move for me personally and football-wise, so I’m delighted
“I have played against Barça, I know their history and they have a very nice experience for women’s football. It’s a great opportunity.”
Rabano began her career with Atletico Arousana, before moving to Deportivo La Coruna, where she spent four seasons. The 23-year-old joined Sociedad in 2020, and has represented Spain at youth level.
Rabano seems a likely replacement for fellow left back Leila Ouahabi, who departed Barcelona for Manchester City this summer following the conclusion of her contract.
Lieke Martens has also announced that she will exit the club once her contract comes to an end on 30 June and has been linked with a move to PSG, while Gemma Font and Ana Crnogorcevic both recently signed contract extensions until 2024.
