The Accra Metropolitan Authority (A.M.A) has stated in unequivocal terms that the overall best farmer in the assembly, Mrs. Naa Adjeley Mensah who is a backyard farmer at Korle-Bu received a RAMBO 500 polytank, knapsack, seeds, insecticides, cutlasses, fertilizers in addition to the bicycle after a series of engagements with officials from the Assembly’s Agriculture Department.
The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) stated that its attention has been drawn to several syndicated publications circulating on social media and some online portals insinuating that the “Overall Best Farmer for AMA was honored with a bicycle, sprayer and assorted items.”
The assembly said that the facts have been distorted and that Mrs. Naa Adjeley Mensah was adequately rewarded despite an erroneous impression being created on social media that she was only given a bicycle.
This was contained in a press release titled ‘Re: Overall Best Farmer for A.M.A Was Honoured with a Bicycle, Sprayer and Assorted Items’.
“It is equally important to state that other winners including the Best Agro Processor, Best Crop Farmer, Best Innovative Farmer, Best Backyard Famer, Best Fish Processor, Best Hook and Line Fisherman and Best Fisherman also received deep freezers, mesh for fencing, RAMBO 500 and 350 polytanks, knapsacks, seeds, insecticides, cutlasses, fertilizers, a laptop, water pump, corn mill motor as their prizes,” the statement said.
“The AMA would want to urge the general public to ignore the said publications and treat it as mischief,” the statement said. It was signed by Gilbert Nii Ankrah, Head of Public Affairs for Metro Chief Executive.
