The Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations (MELR) says that it has come to its attention of that the pretertiary education sector unions are threatening to embark on Industrial action over the appointment of a new Director-General for the Ghana Education Service (GES).
The Ministry stated that given the long-standing relationship between the Government and the Unions, the Minister hereby invites the Minister for Education and Leadership of the Unions concerned to a meeting in the Conference Room of the Ministry on Friday, 4th November 2022 T 10:00 AM to discuss and find an amicable resolution to the impasse.
“By this invitation, the Ministry entreats all stakeholders to exercise restraint whilst the matter is being amicably resolved,” said a release signed by the Minister.
It was copied to the Minister of Education and the General Secretary, Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT), and the President, of the Coalition of Concerned Teachers, Ghana (CCT).
