In an interview with the Daily Searchlight, Hon Tampuli stated that the NPP government continues to tackle the most important and difficult problems in the transportation sector, recognizing it as key in the movement of persons, goods and services and as a necessary facility to reduce poverty.

“Since 2017 President Akufo- Addo’s administration has dedicated itself to achieving significant wins and an improvement in circumstance for the ordinary Ghanaian through the transport sector,” he said.

Mr. Tampuli stated that transportation, from railroads to airports, continue to receive critical financial support.

He noted that just this week the Tamale Airport Development Phase II Project which includes a modern terminal building, VIP lounge, 2 boarding gates, 4 self-service check-in kiosks, 8 check-in desks, airline offices, commercial retail areas, a multi-purpose terminal for Hajj travel facilitation and a 5km road network was completed.

He stated that again a 22-km Cape Coast Inner City Roads project under the SinoHydro Master Project Support Agreement was inaugurated by Vice President Dr. Bawumia on Monday, September 26.

“The Cape Coast project would have significant input into the social, economic and developmental lives of businesses and individuals in Cape Coast, the Central Region and indeed all of Ghana, and it is in recognition of this that government is so determined to work on that project,” Mr. Tampuli stated.

He said that indeed, towards improving the western aspect of road development, the government is similarly working on Takoradi’s PTC Interchange.

“Our government intends to facilitate transport and the movement of people, goods and services, thereby reducing poverty in the Western aspect of Ghana,” he said.

In the meantime he has also mention that it is not only the Western parts of Ghana, but the nation as a whole that is seeing fantastic development in terms of road and transport infrastructure.

“The Sunyani/Berekum Inner City roads currently 50% and 60% complete respectively,” he stated.
