The adjustment will comprise an 8 percentage point increase in base pay and an additional 1 percentage point allocation towards conditions of service, under an agreement reached at a meeting of the Public Services Joint Standing Negotiating Committee.

Secretary General of Organised Labour, Joshua Ansah, announced the agreement on Wednesday, confirming that both parties had also reached an understanding on salary adjustments for 2028.

Under the arrangement, public sector workers will receive a 10 per cent across the board pay increase effective January 1, 2028.

The 2028 adjustment will be calculated based on the applicable wage bill as of December 31, 2027, establishing the basis for determining the new remuneration levels.

The agreement outlines the salary adjustment framework for the two years, with the government and organised labour expected to proceed in accordance with the applicable legislative requirements.

However, the implementation of the agreed increases remains subject to the relevant legislative process.

The agreement is expected to guide remuneration adjustments for public sector employees over the period, following negotiations between the government and organised labour representatives.
