Damang Gold Mine Limited has extracted approximately 12.1 million tonnes of material between April and September 2026 under its new owners, Engineers and Planners, with fresh material from active mining operations contributing 60 per cent of the ore feed to its processing plant.
The mine’s Manager responsible for Mining, Frank Dankyi Agyei, disclosed the production figures during a special edition of Asempa FM’s Ekosiisen programme held in Tarkwa on Thursday, October 22.
He explained that the figures reflected the mine’s efforts to expand production since officially commencing operations under its new ownership on April 19, 2026.
According to Mr Agyei, Damang extracted 647,821 tonnes of material by the end of April, followed by 1.4 million tonnes in May and 1.6 million tonnes in June.
Production subsequently increased to two million tonnes in July before reaching a peak of 3.45 million tonnes in August. The mine then extracted approximately three million tonnes in September, bringing the reported total for the six month period to 12,097,821 tonnes.
Mr Agyei said the mine remained determined to sustain its production growth and improve operational performance, emphasising that its activities were not dependent exclusively on previously mined material held in stockpiles.
“This demonstrates that we are not relenting in our efforts to improve production,” he stated.
He further explained that stockpiled material currently accounts for approximately 40 per cent of the feed supplied to the processing plant, while the remaining 60 per cent consists of freshly mined material obtained directly from the mining pits.
The freshly extracted material is transported to the processing facility, where it is prepared for further treatment as part of the mine’s gold production operations.
Mr Agyei noted that the composition of the plant’s feed demonstrated the significant contribution of ongoing mining activities to the operation, with newly extracted material constituting the larger proportion of the material processed.
The production figures provide an indication of the operational activity recorded at Damang during the first six months following the commencement of operations under Engineers and Planners.
The mine’s ability to maintain production levels, increase the extraction of fresh material and manage existing stockpiles will remain important to sustaining its operations and supporting its broader production objectives.
