The Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) will today, Wednesday, August 19, 2026, hold a
symposium to commemorate its 77th anniversary, with journalists and key stakeholders expected
to deliberate on the future of journalism and the rapidly evolving digital media landscape.
The symposium, scheduled for 12:30 p.m. at the British Council in Accra, is being held under the
theme: “Building on Our Legacy, Advancing Ethical Journalism and Shaping the Future of
Digital Media.”
The event will provide an opportunity for the Association to reflect on its 77-year history while
examining how journalism can remain relevant, credible and ethical in an increasingly digital
and technology-driven media environment.
The Managing Editor of the Insight Newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr., will be the Main Speaker at the
symposium.
His participation is expected to bring considerable experience and perspective to discussions on
journalism, media ethics and the changing role of the press in Ghana.
The symposium will also feature Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Minister of State in Charge of
Government Communications, as the Special Guest of Honour.
Rev. Ing. Edmund Yirenkyi Fianko, Director-General of the National Communications Authority
(NCA), will also participate as a Special Guest.
The event will be hosted by Albert Kwabena Dwumfour, President of the GJA.
