Ghana’s Deputy Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Sanni Jajah, has died, according to an announcement by the Member of Parliament for Ayawaso North, Yussif Jajah.
Mr Jajah disclosed the death in a Facebook post, stating that Sanni Jajah, who was his nephew, passed away on the evening of Saturday, August 9, 2026.
The Ayawaso North legislator described the death as a profound loss to the family and appealed to the public to remember the bereaved family in their thoughts and prayers as they come to terms with the unexpected loss.
He indicated that additional information concerning the funeral arrangements and burial would be communicated by the family at the appropriate time.
Sanni Jajah was appointed Deputy Head of Mission at Ghana’s Embassy in Saudi Arabia by President John Dramani Mahama on September 11, 2025.
In his diplomatic capacity, he worked alongside Ghana’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Alhaji Said Sinare, supporting the embassy’s consular responsibilities and assisting Ghanaian nationals residing in or travelling to the Kingdom.
His duties included providing consular support to Ghanaian citizens and helping address the needs of pilgrims travelling from Ghana to Saudi Arabia for the annual Hajj pilgrimage.
Through his diplomatic responsibilities, Sanni Jajah was involved in efforts to facilitate the welfare and interests of Ghanaian nationals in Saudi Arabia, particularly during periods when large numbers of Ghanaians travelled to the country for religious purposes.
His death brings an end to a diplomatic assignment that began less than a year after his appointment, with the family expected to release further information on the circumstances surrounding his passing and arrangements for his funeral.
As relatives, colleagues and friends mourn his death, the family has asked for privacy and support while preparations are made to honour his memory and lay him to rest.
