Two people are feared dead following a road traffic collision involving a pickup truck and a motorbike on the Accra Aflao highway in the Greater Accra Region.
The crash occurred on Sunday, August 9, 2026, along the stretch of the highway between Dawa and Tsopoli, where the pickup truck reportedly collided with the motorbike while travelling on the busy route.
The pickup, bearing registration number GX 2395 26, was involved in the collision with the motorbike under circumstances that remain unclear.
The two individuals who were travelling on the motorbike are feared to have died as a result of the impact. However, the identities of the suspected victims have not yet been established, and further details concerning their condition are yet to be confirmed by the relevant authorities.
It is also not immediately known whether the occupants of the pickup truck suffered injuries in the collision.
The circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation, with further information expected to emerge as authorities assess the scene and establish what led to the collision.
The incident has once again drawn attention to road safety concerns along the Accra Aflao highway, particularly the vulnerability of motorcyclists who use the major transport corridor alongside larger commercial and private vehicles.
Motorbikes remain an important means of transportation for many road users, but their smaller size and limited physical protection leave riders and passengers considerably more exposed when collisions occur with larger vehicles.
The latest crash has therefore renewed calls for greater caution among motorists and motorbike users travelling along the highway, especially on busy sections where differences in vehicle size, speed and road positioning can increase the consequences of an accident.
Authorities are expected to establish the identities of those involved, determine the circumstances that preceded the collision and provide further information on the condition of the occupants of both vehicles.
Until an official confirmation is issued, the reported deaths remain described as feared fatalities.
