The confrontation is reported to have begun when a landlord, popularly identified as Mensah, allegedly discharged a firearm during a dispute, striking 45 year old James Kpanda in the knee. In the same incident, his younger brother, Jonathan Kpanda, sustained a severe eye injury, escalating tensions within the community.

Following the shooting, emotions rapidly intensified as groups of angry residents mobilised in retaliation. The situation quickly deteriorated into chaos when some youth stormed the suspect’s residence and set it ablaze, sparking a broader wave of destruction.

The ensuing fire consumed several valuables, including the landlord’s residential building, a Mercedes Benz private vehicle, three motorbikes, and a jungle motorbike, according to reports attributed to the Ghana News Agency through journalist Emmanuel Agbaxode.

The injured brothers were swiftly transported to the Akatsi Municipal Hospital, where they are currently receiving medical attention for their wounds as health personnel continue efforts to stabilise their condition.

In response to the incident, police authorities have arrested the suspected landlord to assist with investigations, as security officials work to restore calm and prevent further escalation in the community.
