Former Chief Executive of GIHOC Distilleries Company Limited, Maxwell Kofi Jumah, has yet to fulfil the conditions attached to a GH¢55 million bail issued by the Economic and Organised Crime Office, amid reports that he has been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.
According to the Ashanti Regional Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party, Paul Yandoh, efforts are actively underway to secure his release; however, the process has encountered delays due to his reported medical condition.
Speaking in an interview with Citi News on Monday, May 4, 2026, Mr Yandoh indicated that Mr Jumah’s health status necessitated immediate clinical intervention, resulting in his admission at the Korle Bu facility, where he is said to be receiving critical care.
He explained that this development has hindered progress toward satisfying the stipulated bail requirements.
Mr Jumah was granted enquiry bail on April 29, fixed at GH¢55 million, but remains unable to meet the accompanying conditions.
His detention followed a security operation at his residence in Kumasi, conducted as part of ongoing investigations by EOCO into suspected violations of public financial management regulations during his tenure at GIHOC.
Authorities have not yet made public the precise nature of the allegations, and EOCO has so far withheld further official commentary as inquiries continue.
