Medical research experts have revealed that many men who contract hypertension die early than woman who suffer the same challenge.

According to the doctors’ research findings, men suffer this fate because they delay in seeking early medical attention but the women on the other hand do early check- ups which helps to detect and seek medication and treatment early.

This came to light when the Ghana Health Service organized an event at the Mamprobi Polyclinic to commemorate World Hypertension Day.

The doctor who spoke at the event advised his male counterparts to undergo regular medical checkups to know their status of the disease in order to be put on medication.

According to the expert, failure to do so can lead to contraction of other diseases that will shorten one’s life.

He indicated that high blood pressure can lead to high sugar levels that can affect one’s internal organs and lead to acquisition of other dangerous diseases.

The experts told the gathering that early detection will enable doctors to put patients on safe medication that will in turn reduce the effects and can prolong one’s life.

The experts further explained that there was a wide range of medication depending on one’s response to the prescribed medicine so prescribed.

He advised that if one finds any adverse effect after using a particular medicine he/she must quickly report to his/ her doctor to change the dossier for him/her.

The expert also said that the medicines are varied and harmless and if one follows the doctor’s instructions it would work for the patient without any harm.

Though they have some side effects like any medicine does but the net effect was immense.

He advised everybody to go to a clinic or hospital to check their BP and sugar levels regularly to know their status before it’s too late.

He again stated that hypertension can be hereditary or acquired and can be gotten at any age especially from 30 years and above.

He advised people to undergo regular check-ups, watch their eating and drinking habits, and do regular exercises to avoid the effect of the disease.
