In a phenomenal boost to Ghana’s decentralization drive, the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs on October 20th, 2026, officially presented 128 brand-new vehicles to selected Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) to energize local governance nationwide. The high-profile handover ceremony was led by Sector Minister Hon. Mahama Ayariga, marking one of the largest single logistical injections into local government in recent years.

Hon. Ayariga stated that the procurement is not just about cars, but about performance, presence and power to the people. The new fleet will strengthen field supervision, accelerate project monitoring, and enhance rapid response to community needs across all districts, underscoring government’s unwavering commitment to investing in decentralization and empowering local leadership to deliver results at the grassroots.
